North Carolina A&T State University is the largest historically black research university in the U.S. Located in Greensboro, NC, this public university was founded in 1891 and is well-known today for being the highest producer of black engineers, psychology graduates and certified public accountants. The highly-regarded College of Engineering is recognized for consistently ranking first in the nation for the number of degrees awarded to African Americans at the undergraduate level, and for its award-winning faculty. The university offers 177 undergraduate degree programs, with the most popular being engineering, business and liberal arts and sciences to more than 10,000 students. In their spare time, students can roam the 223-acre campus, participate in more than 60 student organizations and Greek life or explore downtown Greensboro, which is just nine blocks from campus. The “Aggies’” football team is a three-time Black College Football National champion. The men’s basketball team has 16 total conference regular-season and tournament championships, including eight consecutive titles in the 1980s.
